Money & Jesus
My learnings on building financial foundations on the Word of God.
Never Hungry
The Lord does not let the righteous go hungry, but he thwarts the craving of the wicked. - Proverbs 10:3 ESV
Priorities
“You expected much, but then it amounted to little. When you brought the harvest to your house, I ruined it. Why? ” This is the declaration of the Lord of Hosts. “Because My house still lies in ruins, while each of you is busy with his own house. - Haggai 1:9 HCSB
Money-bag
He also said to them, “When I sent you out without money-bag, traveling bag, or sandals, did you lack anything?” “Not a thing,” they said. Then He said to them, “But now, whoever has a money-bag should take it, and also a traveling bag. And whoever doesn’t have a sword should sell his robe and buy one. - Luke 22:35-36 HCSB
Consider the Poor
Blessed is the one who considers the poor! In the day of trouble the Lord delivers him; the Lord protects him and keeps him alive; he is called blessed in the land; you do not give him up to the will of his enemies. The Lord sustains him on his sickbed; in his illness you restore him to full health. - Psalm 41:1-3 ESV
Mere Shadow
“Certainly, man walks about like a mere shadow. Indeed, they frantically rush around in vain, gathering possessions without knowing who will get them. Now, Lord, what do I wait for? My hope is in You. - Psalm 39:6-7 HCSB
Lack Nothing
Taste and see that the Lord is good. How happy is the man who takes refuge in Him! You who are His holy ones, fear Yahweh, for those who fear Him lack nothing. Young lions lack food and go hungry, but those who seek the Lord will not lack any good thing. - Psalm 34:8-10 HCSB
Sovereign Lord
The Sovereign Lord is my strength! He makes me as surefooted as a deer, able to tread upon the heights. - Habakkuk 3:19 NLT
I am Content
Better to have little, with godliness, than to be rich and dishonest. - Proverbs 16:8 NLT
It’s God’s
“The silver and gold belong to Me”—this is the declaration of the Lord of Hosts. - Haggai 2:8 HCSB
What Matters
Make me walk along the path of your commands, for that is where my happiness is found. Give me an eagerness for your laws rather than a love for money! Turn my eyes from worthless things, and give me life through your word. - Psalm 119:35-37 NLT
Can’t Repay
Then he turned to his host. “When you put on a luncheon or a banquet,” he said, “don’t invite your friends, brothers, relatives, and rich neighbors. For they will invite you back, and that will be your only reward. Instead, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind. - Luke 14:12-13 NLT
Needs
Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, and you say, “Good-bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well”—but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do? So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless. - James 2:15-17 NLT
Favoritism
If you look with favor on the man wearing the fine clothes and say, “Sit here in a good place,” and yet you say to the poor man, “Stand over there,” or, “Sit here on the floor by my footstool,” haven’t you discriminated among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts? - James 2:3-4 HCSB
Integrity
4 For we speak as messengers approved by God to be entrusted with the Good News. Our purpose is to please God, not people. He alone examines the motives of our hearts. 5 Never once did we try to win you with flattery, as you well know. And God is our witness that we were not pretending to be your friends just to get your money! 6 As for human praise, we have never sought it from you or anyone else. - 1 Thessalonians 2:4-6 NLT
Examine Motives
For we speak as messengers approved by God to be entrusted with the Good News. Our purpose is to please God, not people. He alone examines the motives of our hearts. - 1 Thessalonians 2:4 NLT
