I Did It

17 You may say to yourself, ‘My power and my own ability have gained this wealth for me,’ 18 but remember that the Lord your God gives you the power to gain wealth, in order to confirm His covenant He swore to your fathers, as it is today.

Deuteronomy 8:17-18 HCSB

We can choose to live our lives with a God centered or a self centered world view. In a self centered world view God is an afterthought, and really only comes back into view when things aren't going our way. It's when we filter information and make decisions based on our WANTS (and "influencers"), rather than God's Word. In a God centered world view He is the first thought, and we filter information and make decisions base on Scripture.

In these verses two ideas stand out to me:

  1. All our abilities come from God

  2. God gives us our abilities to be used for His purposes

In Deuteronomy 8:17-18 God had to remind Moses that He gave him the power to gain wealth, and the purpose was to confirm His covenant with Israel.

What purpose does God have for the money He's entrusted to you?
