Me (Harland)

I’m really no one special when it comes to fancy financial knowledge. I have BS in computer engineering, but have worked most my career within supply chain.

Gospelmad was birthed from several passions that God placed in my heart over 10 years ago (money, the gospel, men, marriage, and discipleship). So while our primary focus is money, with special emphasis on budgeting; these other passions are the fuel that motivate us to do what we do.

My own financial journey has had a lot of up’s and down’s, sometimes being obedient to God’s Word other times not so much; but the message remains the same…God is faithful.

In 2020 I decided to document my journey on YouTube of getting out of nearly $50K of debt, and achieved that goal in February 2022 after 22 months. And without a doubt budgeting was the most critical component to me turning my finances around.

Furthermore the biggest lesson my debt free journey taught me, was that the “how” of handling money may change based on new information and technology; but the “why” of handling money should always be based on something that doesn’t change, God’s Word.

In November 2022, I became a certified YNAB budget coach.
