Mere Shadow
4 “Lord, reveal to me the end of my life and the number of my days. Let me know how short-lived I am. 5 You, indeed, have made my days short in length, and my life span as nothing in Your sight. Indeed, they frantically rush around in vain, gathering possessions without knowing who will get them. 7 Now, Lord, what do I wait for? My hope is in You.

The older I get the more time seems to pick up the pace. We only have a brief period of time on Earth to make an impact. On my deathbed looking back at my life, how much value will I place on all the possessions I acquired? Rather, value will be found in moments obeying God, serving my family, fellowshipping with friends, and working diligently for God's glory. In this Psalm David is going through a period of suffering. In times of suffering how much hope can be obtained from possessions? However, no matter the situation our hope can always be found in Him.
