4 “Lord, reveal to me the end of my life and the number of my days. Let me know how short-lived I am. 5 You, indeed, have made my days short in length, and my life span as nothing in Your sight. Yes, every mortal man is only a vapor. Selah 6 “Certainly, man walks about like a mere shadow. Indeed, they frantically rush around in vain, gathering possessions without knowing who will get them. 7 Now, Lord, what do I wait for? My hope is in You.

Psalm 39:4-7 HCSB

The older I get the more time seems to pick up the pace. We only have a brief period of time on Earth to make an impact. On my deathbed looking back at my life, how much value will I place on all the possessions I acquired? Rather, value will be found in moments obeying God, serving my family, fellowshipping with friends, and working diligently for God's glory. In this Psalm David is going through a period of suffering. In times of suffering how much hope can be obtained from possessions? However, no matter the situation our hope can always be found in Him.
