My learnings on building financial foundations on the Word of God.
Retirement
“This is the rule the Levites must follow: They must begin serving in the Tabernacle at the age of twenty-five, 25 and they must retire at the age of fifty. After retirement they may assist their fellow Levites by serving as guards at the Tabernacle, but they may not officiate in the service. This is how you must assign duties to the Levites.” - Numbers 8:24-26 NLT
An Abomination
Unequal weights and unequal measures are both alike an abomination to the Lord. - Proverbs 20:10 ESV
Establish our Work
Let the favor of the Lord our God be on us; establish for us the work of our hands—establish the work of our hands! - Psalm 90:17 HCSB
Don’t Hold Back
A slacker’s craving will kill him because his hands refuse to work. He is filled with craving all day long, but the righteous give and don’t hold back. - Proverbs 21:25-26 HCSB
Hid Themselves
15 Then everyone—the kings of the earth, the rulers, the generals, the wealthy, the powerful, and every slave and free person—all hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains. 16 And they cried to the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of the one who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb. - Revelation 6:15-16 NLT
Run to Yahweh
10 The name of Yahweh is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are protected. 11 A rich man’s wealth is his fortified city; in his imagination it is like a high wall. - Proverbs 18:10-11 HCSB
Evil Ambitions
They gave him seventy silver coins from the temple of Baal-berith, which he used to hire some reckless troublemakers who agreed to follow him. He went to his father’s home at Ophrah, and there, on one stone, they killed all seventy of his half brothers, the sons of Gideon. But the youngest brother, Jotham, escaped and hid. - Judges 9:4-5 NLT
Coveted
Achan replied to Joshua, “It is true. I have sinned against the Lord, the God of Israel. This is what I did: When I saw among the spoils a beautiful cloak from Babylon, 200 silver shekels, and a bar of gold weighing 50 shekels, I coveted them and took them. You can see for yourself. They are concealed in the ground inside my tent, with the money under the cloak.” - Joshua 7:20-21 HCSB
Hidden Among You
“Get up! Command the people to purify themselves in preparation for tomorrow. For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: Hidden among you, O Israel, are things set apart for the Lord. You will never defeat your enemies until you remove these things from among you. - Joshua 7:13 NLT
Free of Charge
Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those with skin diseases, drive out demons. You have received free of charge; give free of charge. Don’t take along gold, silver, or copper for your money-belts.
Matthew 10:8-9 HCSB
Bad Influences
My son, if sinners entice you, don’t be persuaded. If they say—“Come with us! Let’s set an ambush and kill someone. Let’s attack some innocent person just for fun! Let’s swallow them alive, like Sheol, still healthy as they go down to the Pit. We’ll find all kinds of valuable property and fill our houses with plunder. Throw in your lot with us, and we’ll all share our money”— Proverbs 1:10-14 HCSB
Show Mercy
35 “If your brother becomes destitute and cannot sustain himself among you, you are to support him as a foreigner or temporary resident, so that he can continue to live among you. 36 Do not profit or take interest from him, but fear your God and let your brother live among you. - Leviticus 25:35-36 HCSB
Weep & Howl
Come now, you rich people! Weep and wail over the miseries that are coming on you. Your wealth is ruined and your clothes are moth-eaten. - James 5:1-2 HCSB
Not Grudgingly
10 Give generously to the poor, not grudgingly, for the Lord your God will bless you in everything you do. 11 There will always be some in the land who are poor. That is why I am commanding you to share freely with the poor and with other Israelites in need. - Deuteronomy 15:10-11 NLT
Honor or Riches
A gracious woman gains honor, but violent men gain only riches. - Proverbs 11:16 HCSB
Zero Interest
who does not lend his money at interest or take a bribe against the innocent— the one who does these things will never be moved. - Psalm 15:5 HCSB
Shrewd Manager
“The rich man had to admire the dishonest rascal for being so shrewd. And it is true that the children of this world are more shrewd in dealing with the world around them than are the children of the light. Here’s the lesson: Use your worldly resources to benefit others and make friends. Then, when your possessions are gone, they will welcome you to an eternal home. - Luke 16:8-9 NLT
Faithful Stewardship
“One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much. If then you have not been faithful in the unrighteous wealth, who will entrust to you the true riches? - Luke 16:10-11 ESV
