Sorrow Awaits
8 Because you have plundered many nations, now all the survivors will plunder you. You committed murder throughout the countryside and filled the towns with violence. 9 “What sorrow awaits you who build big houses with money gained dishonestly! You believe your wealth will buy security, putting your family’s nest beyond the reach of danger. 10 But by the murders you committed, you have shamed your name and forfeited your lives.

"Why does evil seem to go unpunished? God’s answer is that all who are wicked will eventually be punished; meanwhile, the righteous must live by faith" (ESV Global Study Bible).
How you make money matters to God!! In these verses God foretells how He will eventually hold the Babylonians accountable for their actions. Often times when we sin we don't contemplate the consequences; and actually think we can get away with it. For those of us who know God, how foolish is this?
Some people have made it to the "top" of their industries through dishonest dealings with others. All the while thinking it was worth it, because of the money. Not grasping the fact that no amount of money can protect them from God. Whenever we're tempted to do wrong for money (i.e. lying, cheating, stealing, etc.), let's remember that it's not worth it.
