Listen to Wisdom
10 Choose my instruction rather than silver, and knowledge rather than pure gold. 11 For wisdom is far more valuable than rubies. Nothing you desire can compare with it.
Proverbs 8:10-11 NLT
In these verses Wisdom herself is speaking, and tells us that wisdom is better than silver, gold, and rubies. In my mind I think of the difference between giving someone a fish, versus teaching them how to fish. If you are only given a fish (i.e. money), but aren't taught how to catch fish (i.e. make money); you will always be dependent on someone other than yourself.
Wisdom even says "nothing you desire can compare with it." Why? Because desire is just a feeling, and not necessarily a righteous feeling at that. Whereas wisdom is applied knowledge. And true wisdom comes from God, and is found in God's Word. So living out God's Word is always going to be more advantageous since it will always be inline with God’s will.
