Work Heartily
23 Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, 24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.
Colossians 3:23-24 ESV
Work is a gift from God. Even before the Fall man was called to work (Genesis 2:15). Unfortunately this is an area of much needed prayer; because I often find myself not working "heartily as for the Lord and not for men." I'm thankful for my job, but laziness creeps in far too often.
These are powerful verses. All that we do, ought to be done for the Lord. All that we have, comes from the Lord. When we serve the Lord, we know that He sees everything and knows everything; we can't fool Him. And yet we know that the reward we will receive from serving Him, far exceeds any reward that can be received from serving man.
Whatever our job is, let's remember that we're working to glorify Jesus and not just for our family, boss, co-workers, customers, paycheck, recognition, etc.
